THE MOST IMPORTANT INTERVENTION STRATEGIES PREVAILING IN THE TREATMENT OF STUTTERING
The current study aims to identify the most important intervention strategies prevailing in the treatment of stuttering. The treatment is based on methods that vary according to theories and causes which lead to stuttering. Before treatment, it is significant to consider a variety of variables that affect the person who suffers from stuttering as a whole: mind, spirit, body, and feelings. The approaches that cover these variables need to be varied from medical treatment, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy, sound therapy, and social environmental therapy. There are also different symptoms and forms of stuttering such as repetition, lengthening, stopping, shaking the head, beating with legs, and there are internal symptoms such as anxiety, tension, and fear. The findings of the study suggest that the more treatment is directed at these types of symptoms, the more effective the treatment is, the more likely to reduce stuttering to the lowest level possible, and the fluency of the tongue is improved to the highest level. Based on the results of this study, the researcher came out with a set of recommendations and suggestions.
